教育:Education, the route out of poverty

Education is often seen as the key route out of poverty. Obtaining valuable knowledge and skills give them a chance to improve their lives which means a better chance to thrive and survive once they grow up. We were lucky to be here for their first day (Jan 6) back to school and feel their excitement. Unlike many of us who took education for granted and hated going to school (me, admittedly), they absolutely love it. Today, these kids rely on very limited resources to learn. Our goal is to meet their basic needs for education such as text books, stationery, notebooks, uniforms and school bags.

Antony (4) learning shapes and colours.

11 kids from Elshaddai Orphanage attend Elshaddai School. Their ages range from 4 years old to 9 years old. There are two teachers, Nancy and Ivy who divide the classes according to the kids' age. They teach English, Swahili, mathematics and PE.

Peter (14) and Kennedy (4)

Their worn out school bags.

One school bag costs as little as U$3 to U$9.

These are their text books.

Kids share the (limited) resources they have, erasers, pens, colouring pencils, etc..

We have some talented artists (Alex in the picture) who would love drawing materials.

Please help these kids by donating through the link below
