Ugali is a staple starch made from maize and water which can be eaten at breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's pure carbohydrate. Their diet lacks protein which essential for a healthy development but they cannot afford, unfortunately.
Breakfast: ugali and milk tea.
Lunch: ugali and cabbage
Beans for lunch
Their usual breakfast is only (rather watery) porridge. But thanks to our first donation from Brian Weinstein, we have now started to add more food and nutrition to their meals. We hope that through establishing a healthier diet, the kids get their required nutrition for growth and development.
To feed 25 kids it takes an average of 10 kilos of beans per week, which costs around U$10.
Butter & Jam toast for 25 kids would cost U$7.50
If you would like to improve their meals, please donate through the link below
